Levanduski named a 'Businesswoman of Year' by National Republican Congressional Committee

HIGH SPRINGS -- High Springs business owner Melissa Levanduski has been recognized as a Florida "Businesswoman of the Year" by the National Republican Congressional Committee.

"I was shocked and honored when they told me," said Levanduski, owner of TyTech Solutions, a Web design company based in downtown High Springs.

Staffed solely by Levanduski and husband Craig, the company has been in business for approximately two years and serves about 15 clients on average at one time.

According to Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Alex Burgos, the award is handed out to business leaders who have made contributions to the small business community and to the Republican Party.

"Basically, it's given out to individuals who have made contributions to house Republicans, whether in the form of financial contributions, time devoted to a campaign, basically any assistance to those candidates," Burgos said.

Levanduski received the award in March and was invited to be recognized at the 2005 NRCC March dinner with speaker President George W. Bush, although she was unable to attend.

According to Levanduski, she has contributed both time and advice to the NRCC for more than two years.

"They call and ask for my opinions about things like health care coverage, taxes, basically anything that affects small business owners," she said.

Levanduski says she enjoys success as a small business owner.

"I'm staying afloat so that's a good sign," she said. "They usually say and that if you can make it past the first two years, you should be able to continue going."
