I thought Stearns did well in his meeting here

Dear Editor:

Congressman Cliff Stearns recently held a town meeting in High Springs.

Stearns has held more than 500 of these meetings throughout the district and not

many members of Congress are as easily accessible as he is.

Anytime he is in district, you can call his office and make an appointment to see him.

I attended the High Springs meeting, and I am responding to the letter to the editor from Don Paulsen.

What part did he not hear? I have a totally different reaction.

I found that Stearns answered the questions that were asked of him, and he was

applauded for his comments on illegal immigration.

Stearns received an A+ rating for his record on this very same issue from

Americans for Better Immigration, which is working to stop illegal immigration

and to reform our immigration laws.

Those in attendance cheered his strong position on increasing the number of border agents, building a wall, and deploying new technologies to secure our borders.

I feel that Congressman Stearns shares our concerns about illegal immigration and

many other issues.

If you did not have a chance to attend the meeting, you missed a great opportunity to ask your own questions and hear for yourself. The 2/28/08 edition of this newspaper ran a story on the meeting.

In addition to commending his fine record, I would like to thank him for

coming to High Springs to meet with us.

He also sends a member of his staff to our area on a regular basis for anyone who wants to conduct official congressional business. Not many of our elected officials reach out and listen to their constituents like our very own Congressman Cliff Stearns.
