High Springs police union votes ‘no’ to proposed contract

HIGH SPRINGS – The High Springs police union has rejected the contract the union and city officials have been negotiating for months.

The High Springs City Commission unanimously voted Thursday, Sept. 24 for the contract, which City Manager Jim Drumm said was the agreement reached between the city and the union.

But Drumm said he learned Tuesday when an official vote was taken by the High Springs union members, the contract was turned down, 8-1.

The Herald learned of this story late and will have a follow-up story next week on why union members didn’t vote for the contract.
